Brief history
Forward Precision Equipment Ltd (FPE) is a family firm established in 1969. Dedicated to providing joining and assembly solutions to global manufacturing industries. The company has grown steadily since its early conception. The company's success has been founded upon delivering to the customer cost effective, conceptually sound and innovative engineering solutions. Our prime business is the Design and Manufacture for the joining and assembly of manufactured components employing amongst others friction and resistance welding technologies.
In 1994 FPE took over the total rights of design, manufacture and sales of the already well-established Gatwick brand of rotary friction welding machines and electrical upsetters and consequently formed the company Gatwick® Fusion Ltd. With its prestigious innovative engineering capabilities Gatwick® Fusion Ltd embarked on an extensive development programme to bring the existing range of friction machines to the forefront of the latest technology applying both evolutionary and revolutionary techniques.
The Registered Trademark of Gatwick® is an established brand of Friction Welding distinguished evolutionary and revolutionary techniques.
Gatwick is also a member of the QualiStirTM development programme.

Gatwick® Fusion Ltd contributions to EuroStir®
- To determine the most innovative designs of Friction Stir Welding Machinery using amongst others the latest technologies and developments within the EuroStir® programme.
- To establish a friction welding machine within Gatwick's® sub-contract joining department.
- To demonstrate Gatwick's® ability to develop innovation and revolutionary machinery for friction stir welding suitable for various industrial sectors.
Gatwick® Fusion Ltd plans for dissemination and exploitation of the EuroStir® Know-How
Gatwick intends to Design and Manufacture Friction Stir Welding machines in the very near future and is already actively marketing, quoting and concept designing special FSW machines for Blue Chip companies. Presentations at exhibitions by Gatwick are planned as part of the dissemination process of EuroStir®.

- Fully equipped metallurgical laboratory available at the nearby Brighton University.
- Friction Welding. All metals and metal combinations. Solid steel components and Titanium ranging from 3mm bar+.
- Sub contract facilities. A range of friction welding machines for the welding of 5mm to 16mm bar.
- Design. Design of automated standard and special purpose production and friction welding machines.
- Manufacture.
